Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026. Nyla is published by an independent developer. Contact: support@usenyla.com.

Nyla has no accounts. What you tell the app stays on your phone, except for the words we have to send to an AI service so it can write and read your stories.

What you give the app

In onboarding and while you use Nyla you may enter your first name, what matters to you, a place, details about your day, the first names and relationships of people in your circle, a theme for something you want written, and short daily check-ins about things you did. This is stored on your device. Nyla has no sign-up and we do not hold an account for you.

What leaves your phone

When you ask Nyla to write something (a collection, an intention, a sleep story, a story or a chapter), the app sends the relevant answers, theme and, for chapters, your recent check-in entries to our server at api.usenyla.com. When a line is read aloud, the text of that line is sent for voicing.

Our server passes this text to third-party AI providers to produce the writing and the synthetic voice. At the time of writing these are Anthropic and OpenAI. Their handling of that text is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We choose settings that do not use API content to train their models where the provider offers that, but we do not control their systems.

Our server does not store the text you send and does not keep a log of it. It records only technical error messages (for example, that a request failed) so we can fix problems.

Identifiers

The app creates a random installation code the first time it opens. It is sent with requests so we can limit how many things one installation can create per hour and protect our service from abuse. It is not linked to your name or to any account.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We do not see or store your payment details. If we use a subscription service provider to confirm that your purchase is active, it receives the purchase information needed for that and an anonymous identifier, and no story content.

Notifications

If you turn on a daily reminder, it is scheduled on your phone. Nothing about it is sent to us.

What we do not do

Sharing images

If you share your sky or weekly card, the image is created on your phone and goes only where you send it.

Deleting your data

Use "Start over" in the app to delete everything Nyla keeps on your phone. Deleting the app also removes it. Because our server keeps no copy of your content, there is nothing further for us to delete. To ask about data held by our AI providers, contact us and we will help where we can.

Children

Nyla is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Not medical advice

Nyla is a reflection and visualisation tool. It is not therapy, medical care or advice, and it does not promise any outcome.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
